ECO BOOSTER, injecting vitality into the soil

Impoverishment of cultivated land, which can lead to a qualitative and quantitative reduction in yields, often requires the farmer to increase inputs into the production process, especially in terms of fertilizers, to return to optimized performance.

This not only represents an increase in costs for the company, but it often leads to paying an ‘environmental price’ as well. And the results obtained are not always proportional to the efforts made.

This is also because plants that sink their roots in suffering soil frequently show, in addition to nutritional deficiencies, a non-optimal health status, a fact that may require increasing phytoiatric interventions, with further negative repercussions on the company’s income statement and on the environment.

For all these reasons, nowadays we need a new way of understanding and fertilizing.

 

Distressed agricultural land: the possible reasons

The phenomena of soil “tiredness” are now widespread and can be traced back to different reasons.

The general intensification of agricultural production that took place from the 60s onwards brought with it a hyperbolic growth in land exploitation, often associated with mono-succession.

Mineral fertilizers, for decades applied predominantly, if not exclusively, have gradually shown their limitations in reintegrating the nutrients removed from crops and/or lost due to runoff, evaporation or retrogradation. In this regard, it’s worth remembering the problems related to the leaching of nitrogen in the form of nitrates and the retrogradation of phosphates from the monocalcium form to the bicalcium and tricalcium, insoluble and unavailable to plants.

It’s essential to take into account the fact that the use of heavy agricultural vehicles and the consequent compaction of the soil have caused destructuring, with issues like asphyxiation and negative influence on the biological fertility of the land. Finally, one must not underestimate the possible contamination of soils and surface water resulting from treatments with pesticides that, in part, do not reach the target.

 

Fertilize to regenerate soils

The need to revitalize its crops requires a new vision of the fertilization technique, which aims at their regeneration in a broad sense, exploiting in particular the beneficial effect of organic matter and useful microorganisms. It is known, in fact, that the quality and composition of the organic substance provided with fertilization, which contains various microbial growth factors, can optimize the reactions underlying the carbon cycle in the soil, stimulating and modulating the activity of useful microorganisms already present in the soil and/or introduced with inoculated products.

Among the beneficial effects generated by the supply of high-value organic matter and specific microbial consortia are, for example, the transformation of unavailable phosphates present in the soil into bioavailable chemical forms, which allow fighting against the phenomenon of Phosphorus depletion and reducing the use of mineral fertilizers, and the biodegradation of organic molecules of various origins that can contaminate soils.

 

From Agribios the new ECO BOOSTER technology

Using decades of experience in the formulation of organic and organo-mineral fertilizers based on high-value organic matrices, Agribios Italiana has developed ECO BOOSTER, a substrate activated by exclusive controlled fermentation processes of natural substances, rich in precious metabolites, active enzymatic components and microbial growth modulators. Used during the maturation of the organic matrix, ECO BOOSTER optimizes biodegradation reactions and stabilization processes, keeping the most precious nutritional and bioactive components intact.

The final product is a fertilizer of the highest quality, able to interact positively with the processes underlying soil fertility, promoting the growth of useful microbial species. The effect is shown on the useful microorganisms already present in the soils, the activity of which is stimulated, and any additional ones in the event of inoculated fertilizers being used.

Fertilizers produced with ECO BOOSTER technology regenerate tired soils, promote humification processes and promote the rapid degradation of residual pollutants. They also promote radical development and the processes of assimilation of macro and micronutrients.

 

ECO BOOSTER inside

Agribios Italiana’s fertilizers that benefit from ECO BOOSTER technology include Biophos, Dorado and Superoro.

 

A highly innovative organic fertilizer allowed in organic agriculture, Biophos contains many activities (multifunctional fertilizer). In addition to providing humidified organic substance of high agronomic quality and soil regenerating action, it contains a specific pool of rhizosphere bacteria that act on phosphorus present in the soil, making it available again for crops. In fact, some bacteria naturally produce alkaline phosphatase and phytase capable of solubilizing mineral phosphates, making them available for absorption. Biophos therefore represents a new frontier in sustainable phosphate fertilization: instead of providing mineral phosphorus, which is being exhausted in world mines, what is already present but no longer available because it is insoluble, is used.

 

Dorado is an organo-mineral fertilizer that provides, in a single step, the mineral fraction containing Nitrogen and Phosphorus and a high amount of highly humidified organic matrix, consisting of a mixture of manure (cattle and poultry) and transformed and partially hydrolyzed animal proteins. This mixture allows to maximize the protection of the nutrient elements Nitrogen and Phosphorus, but also contained Calcium, Sulfur and Zinc, improving the nutritional efficiency of the fertilizer and allowing a reduction in the number of fertilizer units provided with the same results obtained. Thanks to the innovative micropellet formulation, Dorado is particularly suitable for base fertilization (even in rows where possible) of cereals, legumes, oilseeds and in all vegetable crops where stimulating the development of the root system is required.

 

Superoro is an organic fertilizer with origins, characteristics and effects on agricultural crops that are completely unique and not comparable with those of other fertilizers of the same title. Its most important characteristics consists in its richness in Nitrogen and Phosphorus, given that they’re linked to protein molecules they are not used directly by plants but are made available gradually and in sync the nutritional needs of crops. These elements are not leached and insolubilized in the soil as when they are contained in mineral fertilizers and promote exceptional biological activity. The primary nitrogen-related needs of crops are provided by amino acids, then peptides and finally proteins. The same considerations can also be extended to phosphorus. Therefore, even the effect of Superoro, which promotes the growth of microbial activity in the soil, is also quite important. The protein materials it is made of are in fact the only nitrogenous food that can be used by heterophilic microorganisms. The activity of microorganisms is also reflected in the solubilization of the bone phosphates contained in Superoro. This avoids insolubilization and facilitates the utilization of Phosphorus by plants.
